Mollymook Beach Mollymawks

Mollymook Beach Bowling Club, affectionately known today as Molly Bowlo, was born from the vision of local bowlers in the late 1960s who sought to create a new home for the growing Milton Ulladulla bowling community. Land was generously donated by Middle Harbour Investments Limited under the condition it be used for recreation, paving the way for the club’s formation in 1971. With humble beginnings and limited funds, the founding members—led by President Ivan Jeboult—relied on loans, donations, and volunteer labour to transform swampy terrain into two bowling greens. Their dedication laid the foundations of a club built on community spirit and perseverance.

By 1972, the greens were officially opened, and with support from the Commonwealth Bank, a $98,000 loan enabled construction of the first clubhouse—an ambitious project that tested the resolve of all involved. Through the 1980s and early 1990s, the club weathered financial challenges before achieving debt-free status in 1993, thanks to the tireless efforts of its executives, directors, and volunteers. Major expansions in the late 1990s and again in 2015 modernised the venue, moving the bistro upstairs, improving gaming and social spaces, and providing bowlers with new locker rooms, offices, and storage—ensuring the club remained a vibrant hub for members and visitors alike.

In recent years, Molly Bowlo has continued to evolve, demonstrating its enduring community spirit. During the COVID-19 shutdown in 2020, members and volunteers revitalised the club through a full repaint and refurbishment. In 2024, a significant milestone was reached when the club amalgamated with the St Johns Park Bowling Club Group, joining the Saints Bowls Group family. This partnership has brought renewed financial stability, professional management, and exciting opportunities for the Mollymawks bowlers. As part of the Saints network, Molly Bowlo now stands poised for a bright future—honouring its proud past while embracing the next era of growth and success.
