2025 World Bowls Junior Indoor Championships: Day 4 recap
Australia’s Joseph Clarke has continued the nation’s tradition of success at the 2025 World Bowls Indoor Championships in Belfast by clinching the men’s singles gold medal on a successful final day.
Commencing the morning with his semifinal against New Zealand’s Camron Horo, Clarke was forced to rally after relinquishing the opening stanza.
The St John’s Park product was supreme in the second before continuing the form in the tiebreak to enjoy a 3-7 8-3 4-1 victory and set up a showdown with Scotland’s Stephen Lowrie for the gold.
The New South Welshman, already no stranger to international finals following his experience at the 2024 Oceania Challenge, was unrelenting once the decider kicked off.
Clarke raced away to the opening set, dropping just two ends in the process before resetting himself ahead of a huge second exchange.
After dropping a three in the first end, the former Australian Open pairs champion went to another stratosphere, claiming the concluding five ends to take an 8-2 7-3 victory and more importantly, the gold medal.
In doing so, he joins the likes of Brianna Smith, Kane Nelson and Nathan Black, all who have saluted over the past three years in singles play at the competition.
Ireland’s Lara Reaney took the women’s singles gold, while New Zealand’s Briar Atkinson and Horo won the mixed pairs.
